Just how observant are your customers?

New client yesterday, two day job.
I had already prepped the home and had hoses running when the lady noticed the blue MicroFiber Bonnet that I was using as a walk off towel and said "You arn't going to do that dry cleaning method are you? we wanted something deeper?"...

I was impressed that she knew what it was yet surprised because the carpet hadn't been cleaned in ten years.

How many of your customers could describe your method or equipment beyond "that noisy truck with the long hoses" or "that thing that goes round and round"

I sat next to a talkative lady on a trip to Arizona a few years back. I tried to be as uninteresting as possible (not hard for me) so she would leave me alone, but nothing I could say about snakes, parasitic wasps, and obscure eastern philosophy could drive her away.

Finally, in desperation, I went for what I was sure would cause her to switch seats. I told her I sold carpet cleaning supplies and was heading to present a class on the subject.

She was fascinated (damn it!!), and proceeded to tell me about "her" carpet cleaner, and how his machine in the truck cleaned better than when he had a unit he brought in the house, but left oil and chemicals all over her driveway.

She then said that she thought his use of a trigger sprayer to put Scotchgard on her carpet was a rip off, and that she noticed what he put in the sprayer didn't say Scotchgard on the bottle.

I asked why she still called him ( I knew the guy )

She blushed and told me that it was because he was hot......

She had to be 70.

He made a joke about me
And then worried that he may have hurt my feelings

Have a young man from Nebraska that just showed up today to do a couple day ride along.

He helps with the Children's hospital and his fiancé the same....

Coordinates transportation including helicopters.

Wants to get into carpet cleaning now...had a guy show up from hour and half away....padded the carpets....

He wants to Steam Clean....said the padding method wasn't for him.....in so many kind words....and wants to offer to his community the service since no one really around doing it....

Nice guy by the way...will be sending him here to at least lurk and watch and learn....
