I’ve been asked to bid a basketball court that has carpet on the walls
It’s brand new the installer walked all over the carpet as he was cutting it and getting it ready for install
There a a lot of footprints and dust marks

I can’t and don’t want want to steam clean because it has real maple floors and customer wants no chance of water touching the floors

I was thinking about encapsulating the walls and brushing them

What are your suggestions

Most of the soil will be removed with vacuuming.

You will still want some drop cloths on the floor due to the potential of over spray when applying your encap flavor of your choice, and the possibility of spills, kicked over sprayers, malfunctioning valves, etc (ask me how I know of these potential events.....:eekk:)

Working on a vertical surface can be more tiring on your wrists and arms than you might expect, so I'd pick up a cheap, lightweight orbital buffer from the auto parts store or Amazon. They aren't as durable as the heavy workhorses that are great on stairs, but they won't tire you out.

How high are the carpeted areas? If you think you have to encap the whole area, you'll kill yourself reaching up over your head; consider a light scaffold.

If you only have a few foot prints that remain after thorough vacuuming, then consider using a neutral encap that doesn't have oxidizers, boosters, or the other stuff used for heavily soiled jobs. An encap at that level of performance will blend in where you remove the foot prints, and keep you from having to encap every square inch of the carpet.
