There is some truth to this. I actually did that without even realizing it… most of my customer base has changed over the last 10 years. Price shoppers don’t even bother anymore!!
I dont get as many price shoppers as I use to but it still happens.
The homes are nicer now but come with their own challenges.
The last nasty one I did didn't complain at all about the price. It paid well.
I kind of like those. Low stress.
I take what I can get without looking for work. Im glad the phone started ringing again.

Oh, great, sound like a challenge I can handle, but it will take me an extra 30 minutes to an hour to earn your satisfaction, we here at Currahee Cleaning Services have a "sort of extreme condition surcharge of $XXX, would that be OK with you?

oh and btw, the last time I was out at your place, annoying the neighbors and your baby with my very loud Macho Mega Machine, I took head , after other complaints, and switch to a MUCH lower cost unit to own and maintain, so our prices have actually gone down, so you may not even notice the surcharge.
So much for saving money on maintenance?

Sounds like something designed and build by Rube Goldberg

The big killer of slide in engines is heat due to lack of fresh air.
Then you have a hot engine hot heat exchanger and hot blower right next to you when you drive to the next job. If you lived in Alabama you woukd understand.

Then trying to fix leaks change oils replace hoses is a pain.

Well apparently i dont know my asshole from a tiddly wink so i think from now on im going to keep my mouth shut. Run my business the way i do any just read about what everyone else is doing . Im finding that trying to help sometimes like trying to teach a pig to sing you end up frustrated and it annoyed the pig. My time can be better spent doing other things. But ill leave you with this when it comes to pto's i worry less about the damage done from idling and more about the damage done from it running . There are specific things that can be done and ways to minimize it. But im way way too old to argue it out but ill leave you with a picture of one thing you can do to stop some of the problems with heat issues while running

We unintentionally create our client base when we start and in most cases recreate it 10 to 20 years later as we earn the comfort to be able to turn away what we don't enjoy..

Some of us enjoy cleaning nasty pig pens ..

You know i keep hearing that idleing wearing out engines but emergency vehicles like ambulances fire trucks forestry trucks and police vehicles all idle for long periods????? All my pto's idle for long periods . Unless im fueling or in a store or something i generally start um in the morning and shut um down when i get home . my old 93 ford has 246k and 11k hours on the machine. My backup van has 216k and 10,563 on the machine. So i call BS on that theory as for putting a larger alternator on your van i say ,why??? An alternator only puts out power needed so if you only need 10a to keep your system topped off thats all your alternator will provide regardless of its capabilities. Newer vans like mine its a 2020 it has a circuit that cuts the alternator off till the charge runs down then activates to charge for awhile. Took some time getting use to seeing tha volt meter fluctuate that much .
Dwain, Thank you for the comment and speaking from your experience!

Chavez once mentioned a swing arm on a slide in to extend the motor outside the van like some blow in insulation trucks have.
It would keep tge machine and van cooler and make maintenance so much easier.

We could build a sliding frame that you could bolt to the vehicle frame and the whole set up could bolt on that outside the van then be slid into the van when not in use.
Leave it out until everything has cooled. No more hot motor or blower behind you.

I just need and engineer for weight loads.

I would call it The Chavez.

A few people did the bed slide in a vehicle.. I think even Gorilla truck box may have done one.. The slides can hold up to 2,000lbs..
